Introduction

The New Forest Players (NFP) is a leading Amateur Drama Group in New Milton in the New Forest Area of South England. NFP is an amateur dramatic society that is now in its 81st year. We have an active membership and each year we aim to produce at least three plays.

Our home is the superb Performing Arts Centre at Ballard School, New Milton. This is the venue for all main productions and Club Nights.

Club Nights are held regularly throughout the year. These fun and informal evenings include one-act plays, talks, quizzes and various other entertainments — visitors are always welcome.  Workshops covering various aspects of theatre for all ages are also held at various times throughout the season.

To keep us in touch, and our diaries synchronised, we have a monthly newsletter ‘Contact’.

NEXT PRODUCTION
When We Are Married
by J B Priestley. Directed by Sonia Collyer
15th to 18th February 2012

J B Priestley's 1938 British farce begins when a group of old friends, all married on the same day in the same chapel, gathers at the Helliwells' home to celebrate their silver anniversary. When they discover that they are not legally married, each couple initially reacts with proper Victorian horror – what will the neighbours think? – but soon all three couples find themselves re-evaluating their marriages. In the end, of course, everything turns out well, and the play ends on a happy note.

PLAYERS WIN AGAIN

In two successive years a major drama award has been won by New Forest Players.

Members recently attended a day long awards ceremony in Guildford, hosted by the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) to receive the "Accolade of Excellence Award" given to the players for their production of "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown". The production, with a youthful cast was staged in February of this year, in New Milton, under the direction of Sarah Haberfield. This award follows the 2010 accolade, given to Helen Davison's production of the thriller "Nightmare". By Norman Robbins which was given personal attention by the author.

The photograph shows Director Sarah Haberfield receiving the award from Stuart Ardern, regional National Operatic and Dramatic Association representative.
